Parkland Hospital Parking Garage
When plans for the new Moody Center for Breast Health were announced as part of the Parkland Health & Hospital System expansion in Dallas, our project partners at Beck Architecture were tasked with creating a patient-centered building as part of the main hospital campus.
The goal was to bring all vital breast cancer services (screening, diagnosis, surgery, and recovery programs) together under one roof. Patients across the community would be able to receive easy access to care, but the influx of visitors on campus at one time created a unique challenge.
A spacious six-story attached parking structure with over 80,000 sq. ft., custom fabrication, and exquisite architectural metal installations was the solution.
With the need for the garage to be both aesthetically pleasing and fit within a tight budget, the KSC team collaborated closely with the project group to create a custom corrugated and perforated façade. An aluminum panel system complete with a custom mounting structure was leveraged to achieve visual appeal while valuing the bottom line.
The perforated metal wall panels achieve the desired design by softening the appearance of the structure while adding an interesting touch – all without sacrificing performance. Additionally, 2100 ventilated rain-screen and custom perforated garage screen systems were incorporated to encompass the design and final product.
