Memphis Mobility Center
The Memphis Mobility Center parking garage is a unique and innovative project that was designed to address the growing need for parking and transportation solutions in Memphis. The concept behind the project was to create a multi-modal transportation hub that would serve as a central location for parking, public transit, bike-sharing, and other sustainable transportation options.
The inspiration for the Memphis Mobility Center Parking Garage came from the city’s desire to promote sustainable transportation options and reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. The project was also inspired by the city’s rich history and culture, as well as its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The design of the garage is intended to be both functional and visually appealing, with a modern and sleek aesthetic that complements the surrounding architecture and features both perforated aluminum composite and custom extrusions. The use of sustainable materials and energy-efficient technology is also a key feature of the project, making it a model for other cities looking to promote sustainable transportation options.
The KSC design team worked closely with LRK Inc. and Flintco to achieve a practical design while taking careful consideration to ensure that the budgetary requirements were met along with constructability constraints.
The Downtown Mobility Center represents a comprehensive approach to urban planning, addressing parking needs, fostering economic development through retail spaces, promoting sustainable transportation, and enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality of Downtown Memphis.
