700 Jackson Street
Now open in the area between the West End historic district and the convention center in Dallas, 700 Jackson Street is a multi-phase, mixed-use development neighboring the Dallas County Courthouse. The project consists of ground-level restaurant and retail spaces with 11 levels of parking above to fit about 1,200 vehicles for both the courthouse and surrounding businesses.
According to Corgan, the architect on the project, “this project plays an important role in the experience of civic engagement, as it is the first stop for County visitors and jurors participating in their civic duty at the Courthouse. It sets the tone of a citizen’s impression and relationship with their city and what it means to be a central part of the democratic process.” KSC worked with perforated formed aluminum panels to create the intricate design for the custom garage screen that sets the structure apart from other parking in the area.
Special attention had to be paid to the construction of the garage due to load-carrying embeds that had to be cast as part of the concrete supporting structure because the core of the project was designed to accommodate future expansion, if desired, of an additional 15-story development.
Project partners also included Azteca-Omega Group and H.J. Russel & Company.
